These dolls are part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
A matching couple of dolls from the fishing town of Urk in the Flevoland province in The Netherlands (Holland). The female is wearing the everyday working apron called 'boezel'. Under her bonnet is a silver metal piece or 'oorijzer' to keep everything in place, simulated by silver paper. Red underskirt. The male is holding two plastic fish. His pants have discolored a bit to the front. They are plastic dolls both standing on their own hard plastic stand marked 'Urk'.
