These dolls are part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
This lovely pair of matching dolls is really a rare find! They are from the centre of Amsterdam in the Noord Holland province in The Netherlands, dressed in the old fashioned clothes of people living in the Jordaan area. The female wears a red underskirt and black socks. Note her typical hairdo. They are plastic dolls with eyes that open and close, both standing on a brown plastic stand marked 'Jordaan'. Some discoloration to the front of the black shawl and one piece of earring missing. Fine otherwise.
