Pretty folk doll from Turkey. Handmade in Soganli village in Cappadocia. Originally Soganli dolls were made as children's toys from wood and pieces of old fabrics. With the growing tourism in Cappadocia these dolls have become a beloved souvenir doll and are now sold all over Turkey. This one is a stuffed cloth doll with a metal frame inside for legs. Wearing wide trousers under her skirt and holding a clay jug. She needs extra support to stand on her own. Stand not included. Trousers and face slightly soiled, fine otherwise.
