Early Russian doll dressed in traditional costume, this kind of doll dates from the 1930's-1940's. She has a molded face covered with stockinette material, the rest is cloth over wire. This doll may not be fully in its original condition, it looks like a former owner has touched her up. The painting of her face seems roughly done and her blouse is made with more modern fabrics, as is the striped fabric used for her headscarf and other piece. The lower parts of her clothing like the skirt, underwear and shoes look authentic and show signs of age; some little holes in the red skirt and damage to one shoe.
