South American doll wearing the traditional clothing of Venezuela. Made of cloth over wire with a pressed material face. By the feel of it a piece of wood is used for the chest. She is holding up her wide checkered skirt on both sides. Under her skirt is a plain white underskirt made of non-woven fabric, lined with the same lace ribbon as the checkered one. Marked 'Venezuela' on the front of her wooden stand. Also a word in smaller sized letters printed at the feet but hard for me to read. Maybe it says 'Llanos' which would be the Plains or grasslands.
