French terracotta doll marked La Santonnerie
This is an unusual Santon doll made in France; a male carrying a lantern and walking stick, wearing the traditional costume of the Bretagne (Brittany) region. This doll is made of painted clay/pottery which is solid and rigid. His arms and legs are partly wired to make them bend. Some little scratches to the lantern and one shoe and one chip is of the edge at back of the stand, otherwise fine.
