German doll by Hedler
This doll is a handmade artist doll from the 1970's, by doll manufacturer Hedler in Arnstadt, East Germany (former DDR). Many Hedler dolls were inspired by the dolls of the miniature town 'Mon Plaisir' of Princess Auguste Dorothea of Schwarzburg-Arnstadt (1666–1751).
A gnome or dwarf holding a bundle of wood branches. He has a cloth over wire frame body, stockinette face. His eyes are tiny black beads, eyebrows and eyelashes are painted on, his mouth is stitched on. He has plastic hands. He is wearing glasses made of metal thread. Stand not included.
